Similar to the Subclass 190, the Subclass 491 is state dependent and is points-based visa for skilled people nominated by a state or territory government to live and work in designated regional area Australia.The regional areas cover most of Australia with the exception of Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Brisbane and other large-populated areas of the country.
Subclass 491 results in a five-year temporary visa during which the holder must reside in a designated regional area and work in their occupation. After three years in possession of the visa, a path to permanent residence becomes available.
- Be nominated to apply by a state or territory government agency, or an eligible relative must sponsor you
- Have an occupation on a relevant skilled occupation list
- Have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation
- Be invited to apply

ROI cannot be revised so you must carefully check for information before submitting.
If you are inveited, you must apply for a nomination via the Victorian goverment website.
This must be done within 14 days from the invintation date.
If your nomination application is succesful, you must apply for a visa with Department of Home Affairs.
This must be done withing 60 days from the nomination date.
